
Manuel Palacin received his B.Sc. in Telecommunication Engineer in 2009 from the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (UPC-Barcelona Tech). He has also received a Master of Science in Telecommunication Engineering & Management from the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya in 2009 and a Master in Networks and Telecommunication Services from the Universitat La Salle (associated with the Universitat Ramón Llull) in 2007. In 2009 he made an internship in the Telecommunications department of the Politecnico di Torino (http://www.tlc-networks.polito.it/ Turin, Italy) at Mario Boella Institute (http://www.ismb.it/). Since 2010, he has been preparing his Ph.D Thesis and he has been working at the UPF as a researcher and teaching assistant. He is a member of the NeTS research group at the Information and Communication Technologies Department of the UPF.
His research interests are in the areas of next generation networks (NGN), future internet services, SIP protocol, ICT deployments, network interconnection (peering), network neutrality, ICT economical aspects and EU/Worldwide regulation and telecom policies. He has participated in several national and international projects. His current research activities are focused in Network Interconnection.
